Your investment account tax package is unique to the accounts, holdings and transactions that make up your complete investment portfolio in a given calendar year.

Since one individual's portfolio can be made up of a single account or multiple types of accounts, each being traded in a unique way to the account holder's needs, the tax package between each person will be different.

This month I take a quick look at the most common tax slips and how to know if/when all the slips have been released.

 

Comparing the RRSP & TFSA

Individuals planning for retirement have two excellent tools to do so.

The Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) and the Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA).

Both accounts offer tax incentives, and give you the opportunity to grow your money long-term.

But while they can both be useful retirement accounts, there are some key differences between them that make them more suited for certain goals and income levels than others.
